🧵 Weaving Process & Time
This rug was handmade using the traditional flatweave method, where dyed wool threads are tightly interlaced on vertical looms. Each color block and symbol is added manually, without any printing or tufting. Completion of this piece required nearly 5–6 weeks, involving two weavers collaborating on the motifs passed down through generations.
🌀 Design Meaning – The Naqsha (Pattern)
The central mihrab represents a sacred niche for spiritual focus and direction in Islamic art. Surrounding motifs include tree-of-life symbols for blessings, geometric "elibelinde" for fertility, and protective elements against misfortune. The repetition of red and blue conveys stability and grounded warmth, rooted in Anatolian tradition.
