This vibrant flatweave kilim comes from the village weaving tradition of Anatolia, where women have woven reversible floor textiles for generations using bold color and powerful geometric motifs. The glowing red field, cool grey panels and creamy ivory border packed with stylized starbursts give this piece a joyful, graphic character that feels both traditional and modern.

At 140 x 103 cm (about 4.6 x 3.4 ft), it’s a wonderfully versatile size – perfect in front of a sofa, under a coffee table, at the foot of a bed or layered over a larger neutral rug to inject color and pattern into any boho, eclectic or contemporary space.

This joyful flatweave kilim was hand-woven in an Anatolian village using age-old techniques passed down through generations. A glowing red field holds a central panel of stacked diamonds, flanked by cool grey side bands filled with star-shaped rosettes. Around it all runs a creamy ivory border and a rich red outer frame alive with colorful crosses and protective motifs.

Woven entirely in wool, the rug is wonderfully light, flexible and reversible – easy to move, shake out, hang on a wall, or layer over a bigger neutral rug. The colors have mellowed into a beautifully soft palette of brick red, dusty grey-blue, warm cream, pumpkin orange, mustard yellow, black and hints of lilac. Natural abrash (subtle tone shifts in the yarn) adds depth and character that machine rugs simply can’t imitate.

At approximately 140 x 103 cm (4.6 x 3.4 ft) it’s the kind of “just right” size you can use almost anywhere: in front of a sofa, under a coffee table, as a statement by the bed, or as a vibrant accent in an entryway or studio. It brings instant warmth, story and a handcrafted soul to your home.

Care Instructions

To keep your vintage kilim looking beautiful:

Use a rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and reduce wear.

Vacuum regularly with suction only (no rotating brush) on both sides to remove dust.

Rotate every few months so light and foot traffic are distributed evenly.

Treat spills immediately: blot (don’t rub) with a clean, dry cloth. If needed, use a little cool water and blot again until dry.

Avoid harsh chemicals and steam cleaners. For a full wash, use a professional rug cleaner who understands flatwoven wool rugs.

If storing, roll (never fold) the kilim, wrap it in breathable cotton or paper, and keep it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and pests.

This colorful Anatolian kilim is more than a rug – it’s a piece of woven history that brings warmth, symbolism and handmade character into your everyday life. Its playful palette and strong geometric motifs make it a standout accent that can transform even the simplest room.
